Terms of use

These terms apply to your use of CamScanPDF, including the website at www.camscanpdf.com and the app at app.camscanpdf.com (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. The service

CamScanPDF lets you scan paper documents with your device's camera, turn them into searchable PDFs, and store them so you can use them on your devices. We're constantly improving the service, so features may change over time.

2. Free for now

The service is currently provided free of charge. We may introduce paid plans or limits on free use in future. If we do, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app, and you'll always be able to download your existing documents before any change affects you.

3. Your account

• You need to give a valid email address and keep your password safe. You're responsible for activity on your account.
• Let us know at hello@camscanpdf.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
• If you're under 18, you may only use the service with the permission of a parent or guardian.

4. Your content

The documents you scan remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them only so we can provide the service to you (for example, to crop them, recognise text and create PDFs). We don't claim any ownership of your content.

You're responsible for making sure you have the right to scan and store the documents you upload, and for keeping your own copies of important documents.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the service for anything unlawful, or to store content that is illegal, such as material that infringes others' rights or exploits children;
• try to access other users' accounts or data, or interfere with the security or operation of the service;
• overload the service (for example with automated uploads), or use it as general-purpose file storage unrelated to scanning documents;
• resell or redistribute the service without our written permission.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to download your documents.

6. Availability and no warranty

We work hard to keep CamScanPDF running and your documents safe, but the service is provided free and "as is". We don't promise that it will always be available, error-free, or that text recognition will be perfectly accurate. Please check important scans and keep backups of documents you can't afford to lose.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, we're not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply to you and can't be excluded by agreement.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@camscanpdf.com. If we ever decide to shut the service down, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can download your documents.

9. Privacy

Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal information.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in advance by email or in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, where CamScanPDF is operated. If you're a consumer, this doesn't take away any protection you have under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
